WHEN & HOW DID YOU FIRST HEAR ABOUT KRAV MAGA?

Five or six years ago I heard about Krav Maga on the radio.  Also, some friends of mine in the military mentioned to me that Krav Maga was being taught to the Venezuelan Special Forces.  I looked up Krav Maga on the computer in order to search for a school in San Francisco (The Best!!)

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER AND WHAT LEVEL HAVE YOU REACHED?

I have been studying Krav Maga for four years and have my Green belt.  My schedule at work is very unpredictable, but luckily, there are many classes at various times of the day at KMSF so that it can fit into anyone’s schedule.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT ABOUT TRAINING AT KMSF?

The combination of learning the skills and getting exercise.  The instructors are amazingly patient and knowledgeable.  My muscle memory is close to nonexistent; yet I have never encountered any impatience or frustration from the instructors. Gabe, Barny, Christian, Trey, Michael, Pam, Natasha, Dennis, Cip, Kat and Lake are true assets to the school.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AND WHY?

I try to attend all levels to keep my skills fresh, but any class that includes weapons is particularly difficult, challenging and hence more attractive.  Also, Kat’s intro to CrossFit was amazingly good and super challenging for me.

WHAT’S YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TRAINING STORY?

Training and taking the 12 hour Green Belt test.  It was an amazing experience and I almost quit but thanks to the encouragement of my fellow students and Christian’s patience  and support I somehow pulled through.  I also remember being completely lost in the beginning

WHAT’S YOUR LIFE LIKE WHEN YOU’RE NOT TAKING CLASS?

I have worked at the St. Francis Hotel since 1985.  Over the years I have met presidents, athletes, musicians and even the Queen of England.  I enjoy Israeli Combat shooting, Sayoc Hali Knife Fighting, Skydiving and backpacking.  I’m also always thinking about my next Krav Maga class.
